This full length work created by Dashown Rawl will take you on a full emotional journey. Funded by the Oscar Grants from George Mason University, 6 Dancers let their emotions take control in a physical way. *audience participation encouraged!*
The RawArts Dance Company is a contemporary dance company based in the Washington D.C metro area. Our mission is to push dancers in a direction of nonstop growth and creativity. We focus on helping dancers step out of their comfort zones and find the source of their imagination. We aim to promote athleticism and grow versatile dancers.
Founder / Artistic Director – Da’Shown Rawl
Da’shown Rawl studied Ballet and Modern at the Baltimore School of the Arts in Baltimore, Maryland. He graduated from BSA in 2014 and is now attending George Mason University with a full dance scholarship as a senior. Attending George Mason has given Da’shown the opportunity to perform works by Alejandro Cerrudo, Andrea Miller, David Grenke, Doug Varone, Lar Lubovitch, Mark Morris, and Robert Battle.
Da’Shown has been choreographing since the age of 16. He has created work at Baltimore School of the Arts, George Mason University and his company RawArts Dance Company. Some of his recent choreographic endeavors include a dance for film by the name of Just A Thought, a work for George Mason University’s School of Dance by the name of Sixth Sense, and Salty Shoulder a duet for the company. Da’Showns passion for choreography was the catalyst for the establishment of the RawArts Dance Company in 2015. He is very excited to see what the future will hold for the company and hopes you will join on the journey.
