Urban Dance Classes
This hip hop class is designed to teach the essentials behind movement, body control, and rhythm within an urban dance setting. Fundamentals among multiple styles will be covered, ranging from groove movements/party dances, to progression of hip hop as a style from the 1980’s to today. Various other street styles will be covered as well, to include funk styles such as popping and locking. The goal of this class is to not only to have students learn choreography, but to inspire students to create and develop their own movements and style.
In addition to instruction within the classroom, those involved in the adult class will be given the opportunity to partake in organized “field trips” to actual dance events in the D.C. metropolitan area.
