DC Dance Performance Series: SPRINGBOARD
As part of Dance Loft on 14's commitment to serving both our neighborhood and the professional dance community throughout the DC area, Dance Loft will present regular performance series in our stunningly renovated historic 1920's theater, with a goal of providing a platform for DC dance artists and companies to present and share works. This performance series will begin with SPRINGBOARD, followed by summer and fall.
SPRINGBOARD Dance Concert Series will allow artists to "spring" into a new part of town, try a new theater and cultivate new Ward 4 audiences.
The first series, SPRINGBOARD, will begin and end with evenings of Open Marley where artists may present work or previews of works in progress in an intimate and supportive setting. Friday, March 30 will begin the three-weekend performance series of completed works by artists and companies in the DC region. Selected and by the Dance Loft, presenting artists will show their work in our 120-seat theater.
Artists are encouraged to apply for the performance series with works that are complete now or will be in polished form by March 30th; unpolished or in-process works are encouraged to apply for our Open Marley nights as an integral part of the program's purpose. For the Friday & Saturday evening performances, artists should indicate if they wish to apply for a full evening, half evening, or partial evening presentation of their work on their application. SPRINGBOARD will be publicized and fully presented by the Dance Loft, and all proceeds after 80 tickets per weekend will go to the performing artists.
Dance Loft on 14 will present additional weekends throughout the year in order to provide opportunities for performance year round. Summer, Fall, and Winter weekends will be announced as the seasons approach.
