Vinyasa Flow, Gentle Flow and Honey Flow are classes offered at Dance Loft on 14 designed to strengthen, lengthen and calm the body. This alignment and flexibility work supports dance training and creates space for improved health and wellness. No matter what level you may be entering this practice there is a place for you!
What sets a yoga practice apart from any other physical activity is the use of the breath. Coordinating breath and movement creates an ideal foundation for the mind and body to sync. Expect to flow continuously from pose to pose with ample time at the end of practice to relax in savasana. This class is appropriate for all levels.
Yoga chitta vritti nirodha. Sanskrit, say what? This opening statement in Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, tells us that yoga is the cessation of the chatter in our minds. If only it were that easy though, right? In this 60 minute all levels practice, we will begin with a quick paced and fiery flow to burn off the energy built up in our minds and bodies from the week. Throughout the second half of this practice, expect yummy yin yoga poses (gentle, held stretches) combined with a few minutes of yoga nidra (guided relaxation) before a nice long drop into savasana. This class is the ideal combination of work and chill time.
Yoga is often thought of synonymously with stretching. While maintaining flexibility of the muscles and mobility of the spine is an important aspect of the practice, strengthening and stabilizing joints is imperative for physical health as well. This class is designed to slowly move through both strengthening and opening postures to better balance the body. This class is appropriate for all levels.
