Moveius Contemporary Ballet is a Part-Time Professional Company with a robust performance season. We develop and present fresh dance works in the contemporary-ballet style that bring modern-day stories and concepts to life.

Dancers rehearse two to three evenings a week, in addition to Saturdays, and perform at our home theater for at least three shows a season and external DC venues. Our current rehearsal schedule is Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons. Some dancers may rehearse during the day, depending on casting.

Moveius has a 36-week contract (Mid August-Mid June), with additional performance opportunities during the Summer months.

Core Company Contracts include:

  • Compensation: Part-time position. This includes paid rehearsals and performances, covering 6-12 working hours per week. We abide by DC minimum wage laws, meaning all rehearsals are paid at or above minimum wage. Performance fees vary depending on casting.

  • Weekly open company classes taught by Alvaro Palau, Diana Movius and Moveius Ballet Masters, Adam Chavis and Kamillia McCracken.

  • Free drop-in adult classes at Dance Loft on 14

  • 16+  paid performance opportunities per year; likely to expand in the coming season

To be considered for a core company position, you must be 18 years or older.

Apprentice Contracts include:

  • These positions are offered on a per-piece basis and involve attendance at rehearsals specifically for the piece they are cast in, and likely fewer hours than those listed above.

  • Performance stipends

  • Weekly open company classes taught by Alvaro Palau, Diana Movius, and Moveius Ballet Masters, Adam Chavis and Kamillia McCracken.

Additional Opportunities for Dancers:
