The challenge
Across Washington, DC, barriers like skyrocketing rental costs, venue closures, cultural and language divides, and post-pandemic isolation are keeping residents from connecting with dance and the performing arts. New government policies have further strained the nation’s arts community, while regional economic hardship and widespread layoffs have left many families struggling to afford creative experiences.
When people are cut off from the arts, entire communities lose out: creativity fades, neighborhood connections weaken, and local economies suffer. Yet artists and arts organizations are determined to keep dance accessible and vibrant—and with your help, we can ensure that the stage remains open to all.
Our approach
At Dance Loft on 14, we believe dance is a powerful force for cultural and social transformation—and that everyone deserves access to the arts. We work to expand this access by providing affordable rehearsal and performance space for artists, promoting our resident ballet company, MOVEIUS Contemporary Ballet, presenting diverse dance and performance works, and offering educational programs that connect DC residents of all backgrounds to dance.
By supporting local artists, fostering homegrown productions, and removing financial and cultural barriers for audiences, we’re building a Washington, DC, where the performing arts are thriving and truly belong to everyone.
Your impact
Your support fuels transformative change—from powering the growth and artistic vision of MOVEIUS Contemporary Ballet, to giving DC artists affordable spaces to create and share new works, to ensuring children and families from every neighborhood can experience the joy and inspiration of live dance. Together, we are keeping stages lit, nurturing local talent, and building community connections that transcend cultural and economic divides.
Your support doesn’t just sustain the arts—it strengthens the very fabric of our city, helping to build a more vibrant, inclusive, and connected Washington, DC. An investment in dance is an investment in a community where creativity belongs to everyone.
